For Pride 2023, we bring you a day of QTIPOC* community and celebration.
Joined by the fabulous folx at Molasses as well as the filmmakers of an upcoming documentary Black Angel, this event will include a QTIPOC workshop, some great films for everyone, and a Q&A with the filmmakers.
Molasses workshop (closed QTIPOC space)
Space opened to all to enjoy lush vegan food and drinks from the bar
Film screening: Shakedown (72min)
Documenting the eight-year run of Shakedown, a black lesbian strip club in Los Angeles, director Leilah Weinraub captures the propulsive, dreamlike atmosphere of the club and achieves a stunning intimacy with its subjects
Followed by a sneak peak at Black Angel!
Black Angel is a story of why two young lesbians of Caribbean descent, Claud and Paula, felt the need to create what became a trailblazing club night in Manchester. A safe space where Black and Asian women (be they trans, lesbian, bisexual or non-binary) could feel safe and express themselves.
